Our 8th grade students will be completing a very important unit on cyberbullying and internet safety this week.  We encourage all parents to discuss the content of these lessons with your child.  The guidelines of proper and safe internet use are valuable information for all families.  It is important to be involved with your child on their computer and cell phone interactions.

The Connecticut Mastery Test begins Tuesday, March 2nd and will conclude on March 26th including make-ups.  The schedule is located on our webpage.  Please check the dates and subjects that will be tested each day.  It is imperative that students arrive to school on time and remember that once a test begins, students are not allowed to leave the test site.  Please schedule appointments accordingly.

Interim reports for the third quarter will be mailed home on Wednesday, March 3rd.  Any student receiving a C- or below in any subject will receive an interim report. If your child received an interim, please sign and have your child return it to their homeroom teacher.

We will be holding our last Parent Conference on Thursday, March 11th from

5:30 - 8:30 p.m.  Remember, this is an early release day for students with dismissal at 11:35 a.m.  Teachers may request a conference with you as a result of an interim report or you may call the school to arrange a time with any individual teacher.

The new rotation in the Unified Arts Program will begin Tuesday, March 16th: grade 6 to Art, grade 7 to Life Skills and grade 8 to Technology.  All second trimester grades will be on the next report card scheduled for the third week of April.

PTA Family Fun Night for grade 5 – 8 students will be held Friday, March 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the MBA cafeteria. The evening will have pizza and BINGO; great prizes. An adult must accompany any student.  Information flier has been sent home.  Please join us for an evening of Family Fun.

PTA Scholastic Book Fair will be open during the day for students on March 10th, March 11th, and March 12th including parent conferences.

The MBA Grade 7 and 8 dance will be held Friday, March 5th from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the MBA gym.  Parent chaperones are needed.  Information will be sent home with students.  Call the school if you can help out.

The PTA will sponsor  “Writer-Palooza”, a weeklong celebration of writing featuring author Ms. Ingrid Law.  This Cultural Enrichment program for Gr. 6 students will be held on Tuesday, March 30th at 10:00 a.m. at SES.
