NOTICE FROM THE TOWN (6/12) - The CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection will be lowering the water level in the mill pond by one foot per week over the next three weeks in order to facilitate the Springborn Dam removal project. This is the dam on the Scantic River in Hazardville.

CONGRATULATIONS to KYLIE RAYMOND: CIAC CLASS S STATE CHAMPION IN THE 3200 METERS!!!! Congratulations also to Amanda Kaufman, who qualified in the 100 meter hurdles in the CIAC Open Championships for the New England Championships being held in Norwell, MA on Saturday June 10th!!!!

 

CONGRATULATIONS to the Somers Girls T&F team for winning the Small School Division of the Journal Inquirer Invitational meet held at Manchester High Scool on May 20th. The team win was Somers first in 36 years of competing in the JI Invitational. Amanda Kaufman led the Spartans by placing 2nd in the 100 and 300 hurdles and 5th in the high jump. For her overall performance, Amanda was voted "Best in Track" for the Small School Division. Kylie Raymond finished 2nd in the 3200 and 6th in the 1600, while Madison Yurgaitis placed 6th in the long jump and Emily Renzoni placed 8th in the discus. The boys placed 3rd in the Small School Division led by Broderick Rheault, who won the discus throw and placed 2nd on the javelin. Jayme Palazzo placed 8th in the 1600 and Hunter Bowers was 3rd in the long jump. Amanda Kaufman, Kylie Raymond, and Broderick Rheault were named to the "All Area Team".

 

CONGRATULATIONS to our boys lacrosse team and coaching staff for winning the NCCC Boys Lacrosse Tournament following their 20-11 win at Granby High School! The team also finished undefeated 8-0 in league play and won the 2017 NCCC Championship for the 2nd year in a row.

 

 


 

CONGRATULATIONS to the Somers High School varsity golf team, who finished 2nd during NCCC regular season play and runner-up in the NCCC Golf Championships held at Blackledge CC on June 1st. The team will be competing in the CIAC DlV Golf Championships on June 5th in Watertown.

                                                                 


2017-2018 FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION IS OPEN!!!


SHS Sports is excited to again launch our new online portal for 2017 fall sports registration. Parents/Guardians should complete the online forms with the student-athlete. Families will need to create a new account. Once you are signed in, you will be able to register for a sport and pay online. Pay-for-play payments (check or cash) are also accepted during pre-season tryouts and should be forwarded to the coach or athletic manager. Please note that the student athlete's physical must be up-to-date within the past (13) months in order tp participate at any piont during the season.

Fall sports will comprise of Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Girls Field Hockey, Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Boys Football, and Girls Swimming. All game schedules are available on www.ciacsports.com and will be posted weekly on the high school sports website once the official season begins. Fall sports tryout schedules will be posted in early August. NOTE: The weekly fall sports schedule will reflect all postponed and re-scheduled games once the official fall season starts.
