Hi, my name is Christine, and in about a month I will be on my way to Alaska!  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m absolutely sure that I am going to love it there and learn so much! There is so much here in Somers that we can’t experience and I know that going to Alaska would be my opportunity to experience everything in a harsher environment, even simple things like going to school everyday in the freezing cold like the Alaskan children do!  I’m sure that school is extremely different than ours here, like how the children can’t go out for recess if it is below -25°C (that’s 2 times less than our room temperature is).  Without climate research that is being done in the Arctic, we probably wouldn't be aware of the global warming issue or even be able to find ways for us to either prevent it or to discover how we can survive its effect.   Hopefully I will be able to view the miraculous aurora that I just know will be absolutely breathtaking!  So follow Jessie, Matt, Jack, and me on our journey through Alaska!
