Do you have questions or concerns about your child's development?

In accordance with federal regulations, state statutes and local board of education policy, Somers Public Schools assumes the responsibility for the location, identification and referral of all children requiring special education and/or related services of children residing in the town of Somers.

Our PreK staff will conduct two Information and Screening Sessions on March 22, 2019 as part of our Child Find obligation. The sessions will be 9:45-11:00am and 11:15am-12:30pm. Please note that if you have concerns in regard to your child's development at any time, you are encouraged to contact staff in order for us to determine eligibility for special education services.

In addition, the Somers Early Start Pre-K has half day options and openings for peer role models for the 2019-2020 school year. The Somers Smart Start Pre-K is our full day school readiness program.

Early Start Peer role models and Smart Start openings will be chosen by lottery and the following criteria have been established:
· Must participate in one of the PreK Information and Screening Sessions on March 9.
· Must be between the ages of 3 years, 2 months and 4 years, 8 months by September 1, 2019.
· Parent must provide transportation to and from the program.
· Early Start monthly tuition is $290.00 for AM or PM (4 days per week).
· Smart Start monthly tuition is determined on a sliding scale (full day, Monday – Friday)

If your child meets the above criteria and you are interested in having your child registered for the Information and Screening Session, please contact the Somers Elementary School Office at 749-2270 Ext. 3102 by later than March 4, 2019. Final selection will be determined by lottery, with anticipated notification to parents about three weeks after the screening. If your child is not selected as a peer, you have the option of placement on our waiting list should a slot become available.
