Student Teacher Process for Somers Public Schools

This process is to be used for requests for student observations and interns.

• All requests for potential student teachers, interns and student observers are to be sent to the Senior Director of Curriculum and Instructional Operation.
• The Director will review the request for placement and match the student teacher with a Somers teacher in the appropriate discipline and/or grade level.
• The building administrator is notified of the student teacher placement.
• The teacher meets with the student to make sure it is a good match.
• All student teachers and interns are required to have a criminal background check, which includes fingerprinting. This is done once the student has been placed and before they begin student teaching.
