Transportation Policy

The following transportation policy was adopted by the Somers Board of Education.

Transportation Policy

Bus Routes

Every year, all bus stops are developed based on the student's home address. A request to change a pick up or drop off location must be submitted each year.  Due to the volume of requests, changes for the new school year submitted after August 1st may not be accommodated for up to one calendar month from time of submission.

Students should be at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the bus arrival time. Please allow additional time as bus runs tend to take a little longer than normal during the first few days of school.

The Somers Board of Education established their policy based on state guidelines to provide safe, reasonable and appropriate transportation services to Somers students.

Any parent who may have an issue with their child's bus stop once routes are set should first contact the bus company, First Student, at (860) 749-7957 to discuss the concerns. If the issue is not resolved after speaking to First Student, you may pursue your concerns by completing the

Bus Stop Change Request Form

Please note, this form is not for changes based on an address change, or other alternate destination (e.g. daycare). See the Transportation Change Request Form.

If you have questions concerning your stop, please contact First Student at (860) 749-7957.
